This September, I'm in a group show about animals called "@N1MALX".

I will be showing two new artworks at this private selling exhibition.

The show is presented by Bonhams and curated by Marcello Kwan, will feature works from over 30 artists.

In addition to paintings and sculptures, the exhibition also includes cross-disciplinary works such as jewelry, timepieces, and wine label designs.

老實說，要把「大熊貓」這個題材處理得不老土並不容易。謝炎安以一貫的敘事結構與個人化色彩語彙切入，維持畫面以黑白為主的基調，同時讓底層顏色若隱若現地滲出，形成近似螢光的發光感。這種控制令毛層的視覺層次更顯清晰而不落寫實雕琢，觀感既當代，又具強烈吸引力。

Frankly, it is no easy feat to handle the subject of “giant pandas” without lapsing into cliché. Tse Yim On approaches it with his signature narrative structure and highly personal chromatic vocabulary, maintaining a predominantly black-and-white register while allowing undertones of color to quietly surface, creating a near‑luminous glow. This calibrated control renders the visual stratification of the fur crisp without resorting to literalistic depiction, yielding an experience that is at once contemporary and powerfully alluring.

一個多月前，謝炎安親自把參加今次「@N1MALX: 非人生活」展覽的兩件作品送抵本公司。開箱之際，運輸公司職員馬上已辨識畫中主角為揚威日本的香港馬王「浪漫勇士」；本人則坦承未能即時認出，只能在一旁補課，甘拜下風。

緊隨浪漫勇士背後的一個細小身影其實才是此作的核心。那是日本動畫「熱鬥小馬」主角—牧場王。輸身形，輸天份，即使馬王在前，卻永不放棄，堅持到底。這個充滿日式熱血的速度畫面，令我看得熱血沸騰，深有感觸。

藝術與人生同理：天分可貴，而恆常鍛鍊與韌性，方能把鐵鑄成劍。於我而言，此作可謂百分之百的激情；願觀者在欣賞色彩與構圖之餘，亦能感受其中的勵志底蘊。

Over a month ago, Tse Yim On personally delivered two works for our “aN1MALX: Non-human Life” exhibition to our office. As soon as we opened the boxes, our logistics and transport colleagues immediately recognized the protagonist depicted as Hong Kong’s champion “Romantic Warrior,” famed for conquering Japan—whereas, admittedly, it didn’t click for me right away, so I stood by for a quick crash course and happily conceded the spotlight.

Tucked in right behind Romantic Warrior is a small figure that, in fact, forms the heart of the piece: the main character from the Japanese animation Midori no Makibao—“Makibaō.” Smaller in build, short on “talent,” yet never giving up even with a champion ahead; this distinctly hot-blooded, high-velocity image left me fired up and deeply moved.

Art and life share a simple truth: talent is precious, but it is steady training and grit that forge steel into a blade. To me, this work is pure passion—may its colors and composition carry through the work’s quietly resolute, uplifting core.

Makibaō, keep running!
